A study permit is a document issued by Canada Immigration that allows foreign nationals to study at Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) in Canada. Most international students need one unless their program is under 6 months.

Study permit holders can work up to 24 hours per week during academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks.
